How Meridian Windows & Doors Was Born
We started Meridian Windows & Doors in 2009 after watching something happen too many times to ignore. A homeowner in Los Angeles had been quoted one price over the phone, then watched the number climb by the hundreds once the installer stood in the living room and “found” problems that weren’t on the ticket. She paid because she didn’t feel she had a choice. That night, Elliot Vance sat down and wrote out what a windows and doors company should actually be: a written price before the work starts, a crew that shows up when it says it will, and a job done right the first time.
The industry didn’t listen, so we built the alternative. What began as a single operation grew into a multi-region network of locations serving homeowners across Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach, Oakland, Anaheim, Riverside, Irvine, and Miami. Each location is independently owned and operated, but every one works to the same standard. More light, less noise, a clean install. That’s the whole idea, and it hasn’t changed.
Elliot Vance’s Personal Connection to the Windows & Doors Trade
Elliot Vance didn’t grow up dreaming about window frames. He grew up in a house where the single-pane windows rattled when the Santa Ana winds came through, and every winter morning meant wiping condensation off the glass before the coffee was ready. He remembers the way that house never felt quiet, even with every door shut. When he started working in construction as a young man, the tradesman who trained him handed him a level and a shim and said something he still thinks about: a window either sits true or it doesn’t. There’s no third option.
That idea stuck. The work appealed to something in him that wanted things measured, squared, and finished. He spent his first years learning how a properly hung window changes the feel of a room, how a door that closes flush sounds different from one that doesn’t. The smell of fresh caulk, the weight of a double-pane unit, the moment the glass catches the afternoon light and the room gets quiet. That’s the part he still loves. The visible difference between done and done right.
Over the years, what started as trade skill became something more personal. A window isn’t just a hole in a wall. It’s what lets the light in and keeps the noise out. It’s the first thing a homeowner touches in the morning and the last thing they check at night. Elliot has spent his career chasing that standard because he knows what the opposite feels like. If he weren’t doing this, he’d probably still be building something with his hands, because the satisfaction of a job that stands level hasn’t left him yet.
Meet Elliot Vance – The Person Behind Every Job
Elliot Vance is the Owner & Founder of Meridian Windows & Doors, part of the Garrison Partners family of home service brands. He came up through the trade as a hands-on installer before building a company around the standards he wished every contractor already followed. His background is in window and door installation, project management, and the slow art of showing up when you say you will.
What sets him apart from a corporate franchise technician is simple: he’s worked on the ladder. He knows what a blown seal looks like up close and what a poorly flashed window does to a wall over five years. He’s the one who wrote The Garrison Standard into every Meridian contract, and he’s the one who reads the install reports. Away from the job sites, he’s a relentless perfectionist about fit and finish, which his own crew will tell you is both inspiring and occasionally exhausting. Every homeowner who calls Meridian Windows & Doors gets the same commitment from him: if the work isn’t right, we make it right. That’s not a slogan. That’s the deal.
Our Promise to Homeowners
Every Meridian Windows & Doors location works to The Garrison Standard, and that standard is built on five commitments we call The Garrison Code. They’re not catchy phrases. They’re how we run every job.
- Show up inside the window we gave. If we say we’ll be there between nine and eleven, we’re there before eleven.
- Price in writing before any work starts. No surprises at the door. No numbers that move once the crew arrives.
- Do it by the book, the first time. We follow the manufacturer’s spec, the building code, and our own install checklist, in that order.
- Leave the site clean and squared away. No debris, no stray screws, no caulk smears on the glass.
- Stand behind the work for a full year. If it fails in that time, we come back and make it right at no charge.
That last one is the one that matters most to us. A one-year written guarantee doesn’t mean much if the company won’t answer the phone when you call about it. We answer, and we come back.
Our Credentials
When you hire a windows and doors company, you’re inviting strangers into your home. That requires a level of trust no brochure can earn. Here’s what we hold ourselves to at every Meridian Windows & Doors location:
- Licensing: Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires. We don’t put anyone on your property who hasn’t met that bar.
- Insurance and bonding: Every location is required to carry the insurance and bond coverage their state mandates. It protects you, and it protects the crew.
- Experience: Elliot Vance has spent his entire career in this trade, and every Meridian location is run by people who’ve done the work with their own hands, not just managed it from a desk.
- The Garrison Standard: Every job, in every market we serve, is held to a written standard created by the founder and enforced across the network. You get the same quality whether you’re in Anaheim or Miami.
Why does this matter to you? Because a state-licensed, insured contractor with a written standard is a contractor with something to lose. Fly-by-night crews can disappear. We can’t. Our name is on the door, and we intend to keep it there.
Rooted in the Communities We Serve
Garrison Partners doesn’t pretend to be from every town. Each Meridian Windows & Doors location is an independent local business that agreed to work to The Garrison Standard. That means you don’t get a corporate dispatch from halfway across the country. You get a call answered by a live coordinator who connects you with the local team that covers your address. The locations across Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach, Oakland, Anaheim, Riverside, Irvine, and Miami are staffed by people who live and work where you do. They know the climate, the building styles, and the difference between a coastal install in Long Beach and an inland install in Riverside. A meridian is a fixed line you measure everything against. That’s why we chose the name, and that’s how we build: to a standard that doesn’t move, no matter which market you call home.
